Tianjin is the only city where China Petrochemical Corporation, China National Petroleum Corporation, China National Offshore Oil Corporation and China National Chemical Corporation all locate. Tianjin Bohai Chemical Corporation is the largest enterprise with the core business of chloro-alkali chemicals in China. The total volume of petroleum and chemical occupies relatively higher shares in the industry of Tianjin and even of China. Taking the year of 2005 as an example, the industrial assets and the gross value of industrial output at current prices only took up 3.5% of that of whole country while the total profits took up 5.4% which reflected the better quality of assets. Compared among all the industries in Tianjin, the gross value of industrial output at current prices takes up 17.3% while the total profit counts at 26.4% which occupies an important position in the industries of Tianjin.

| Presently, there have already been LG-Bohai Chemical Project, EPS Project of Loyal Group, Air Liquide of France Project locating in Tianjin Harbor Industrial Park, as well as Tianjin Bohai Chemical Corporation which is going to locate. The products have established the comparative advantages in the country, especially the output of caustic soda, PVC, Maleic Anhydride, Epichlorohydrin and Epoxy propane are listed among the top three.
